Local Only Mode: the app without the online half

Not everyone wants an account, AI, or cloud sync. Local Only Mode takes all three out of the app and stops it connecting to our servers at all. Your inventory already lives on your phone, so this simply makes that the whole story, with nothing left prompting you to go online. It is free, on every tier, and you can turn it off whenever you like. If you are on Pro Cloud, switching over uploads anything still waiting to sync and copies your full size photos onto the phone first, so you keep the originals rather than the thumbnails.

  • New Local Only Mode, in Settings under Privacy. Sign-in, AI scanning, cloud sync and sharing are all hidden
  • New The block sits in the app's networking layer rather than on the buttons, so it covers anything the app could send, including features added later
  • Improved Settings has been tidied: a proper Privacy section, inventory options grouped under one heading, and Recently Deleted moved next to the inventory it actually belongs to

Spreadsheet imports, sharpened up

A batch of import improvements, found by throwing a lot of awkward spreadsheets at it on purpose. Mostly about making bulk edits easier and telling you what is about to happen before it happens.

  • Improved Bulk editing by reimport no longer needs the Name column. Keep the ID and whatever you are changing, and that is enough
  • Improved If an import is going to delete items, it now says so before it runs, and tells you how to stop it
  • Improved Prices written the European way, like 45,00 in a semicolon separated file, now import correctly
  • Improved If an import cannot finish, it explains why and confirms that nothing was changed
  • Improved The import preview shows the names of the items it is about to change, even when your file has no Name column
  • Fixed Files carrying QR codes already used in another inventory now import cleanly
  • Improved The AI scan screens now mention that you can photograph a receipt, not just an item
  • Fixed VoiceOver now reads out which photo type is selected on the scan screen

Scan a receipt and let the price fill itself in

Buy something, photograph the receipt, done. additem.to now reads receipts with AI and pulls out the shop, the price and the date for you to check. It works when you add something new and when you want to fill in an item you already have, and if a receipt lists several things you just pick the line you need.

  • New Receipt scanning: the shop, price and purchase date are read off the paper for you to review. Nothing is saved until you say so
  • New A photo type picker on the scan screen: tell AI you are photographing a label, manual or box and it reads the image with that in mind. Leave it on Auto and receipts are spotted for you
  • New Scanned photos are saved with their type and a short caption written by AI, so a receipt is filed as a receipt without you typing anything
  • New Item reports can filter photos by type and print their captions underneath, which is useful when an insurer asks for proof
  • Improved Pick lists: a clearer step-by-step when creating one, searchable item picking, and honest wording throughout
  • Improved Big CSV imports are much faster - 20,000 items now import in seconds, with a progress bar that keeps up
  • Fixed Sync now copes with very large inventories, picking up where it left off instead of starting over if it is interrupted
  • Fixed Location names now show properly on a pick list, and photos that did not fit a report row are no longer dropped without a word

Photos grow up: types, captions, and a proper viewer

Photos are no longer just pictures attached to an item - you can now say what each one is, write on it, flick through them properly, and get them out of the app when someone needs proof.

  • New Photo types: mark a photo as a receipt, condition record, manual, box, label or document - a small badge shows on the thumbnail, so the right shot is easy to spot when it matters
  • New Captions: add a note to any photo (where you bought it, which receipt covers it) - captions can run to several lines
  • Improved The full-screen viewer: swipe between an item's photos, pinch to zoom, and share or save the full-quality image - handy for sending a receipt to your insurer
  • New Quick actions: touch and hold any photo in the grid to set it as the cover, change its type, or delete it
  • Improved With Pro Cloud, photo types and captions sync across your devices and the web app, where you can set them too

Groundwork and a little polish

No new buttons this time - this one is all under the hood. We laid the plumbing so a photo's type (receipt, manual, box or label) will sync across your devices, ready for when you can set them in a future update, plus a round of reliability clean-up. Nothing new to tap yet, but things should feel a little more solid.

  • Improved Groundwork so photo types will sync across your devices (a way to set them is coming in a later update)
  • Improved Behind-the-scenes reliability and clean-up

Edit lots of items at once, and faster tags and categories

The headline this release is bulk editing: select a batch of items and set their location, add tags, or set a category all in one go - scan a tag for the destination or pick it from the list. Tagging and categorising got quicker too, with new pickers that let you browse and reuse what you already have, or create something new in a tap. And tapping a tag now jumps straight to everything filed under it.

  • New Bulk edit: select several items and set their location, add tags, or set a category all at once
  • Improved Faster tag and category pickers on the item form - browse and pick what you already use, or create a new one in a tap
  • New Tap a tag on the Tags page to see every item that has it
  • Improved Add photos while you are creating an item, and use Save & Add Another to add a run of items without leaving the form
  • Fixed Applying a tag or category filter no longer made a menu flicker or drained the battery

Your AI scans at a glance, and a tidier Locations list

Two small quality-of-life additions. A new panel in Settings shows how many AI scans you have left this month and a history of what you have scanned, so you always know where you stand. And the Locations screen now remembers which sub-locations you have collapsed - tuck away the ones you are not using and they stay that way, even after a sync or a restart.

  • New An AI usage panel in Settings: see how many scans you have left this month, plus a history of past scans
  • Improved The Locations screen remembers which sub-locations you have expanded or collapsed, per device, surviving syncs and restarts

Photos that show up on time

Add a photo to an item on the web or another device, and it could occasionally lag behind here - sometimes not appearing until you next opened the app. We found the sync gap behind it and closed it, so photos you add anywhere now arrive reliably on your other devices at the next sync. A small release, but a satisfying one to get right.

  • Fixed Photos added on the web or another device now sync down reliably on your other devices, without waiting for an app restart

Update items with AI

Last time you could build an item from a photo. Now you can finish one. Point your camera at something you already track, or its label, and additem.to fills in the details you skipped - serial number, model, barcode - and flags anything that looks wrong. You see every change first, and nothing is overwritten unless you say so. Perfect for the items you added in a hurry and meant to come back to.

  • New Update with AI - scan an item you already have and let AI fill in the blanks
  • New AI flags values that look wrong and suggests a fix, with the change shown before you accept it
  • New Uses the same AI scans as adding, so free users can try it too
  • Improved More free AI scans to try - the free plan now includes 5, up from 2
  • Improved More of the app translated into your language, plus layout fixes for longer languages

Clearer wording and polish

A tidy-up release for the item and location screens. Delete prompts are now honest about the fact that what you remove waits in Recently Deleted for 30 days, we added a heads-up before you lose unsaved edits, the plan screens spell out exactly what you get, and VoiceOver support is much better throughout.

  • Fixed Deleting an item or location now correctly says it moves to Recently Deleted, where you can restore it for 30 days. The old wording suggested deletion was permanent.
  • New A heads-up before you lose changes. If you close an item you were editing, we check before discarding anything you have not saved.
  • Improved The plan screens now show how many AI scans each plan includes and list every Pro feature, with a quick way to upgrade when you run out of scans.
  • Improved Better VoiceOver labels across the item and location screens for anyone using accessibility tools.

Better AI scanning

AI scanning got faster and smarter. You can scan one item and go straight to the next, sign in right where you start a scan, and the suggestions come back tidier and more in step with how you already organise things.

  • New Save & Scan: save an item and jump straight into scanning the next one, so adding a batch is quick
  • New Sign in without leaving the scan, so you can start using AI scanning right away
  • Improved Smarter suggestions: shorter, cleaner item names, and it reuses your existing categories and tags so everything stays consistent
  • Fixed Photos you add now upload reliably on the next sync

Fixes and tidy-ups

A quick follow-up to the AI scanning update. We fixed a rare sync issue, tidied up item pages so they only show the details you have filled in, and polished the photo screens. Thank you to everyone who sent feedback.

  • Fixed A change made just before a manual sync could go missing
  • Improved Item pages now hide empty custom fields, so you only see the details you have filled in
  • Improved Polished the photo screens, with a full-screen camera view and an easier-to-tap Add Photo button

Photo fixes

A small but important update that sorts out two photo problems. The camera no longer closes when you add a second photo to an item, and photos you take now stay put after syncing. Thank you to everyone who reported these.

  • Fixed Camera could close when adding a second photo to an item
  • Fixed A photo could go missing after syncing

Scan items with AI

Adding items just got a lot faster. Point your camera at something you own and additem.to suggests its name, brand, category and more - you review the details and save. It even fills in your custom fields and picks a matching item template. Every suggestion lands in the normal item form first, so you stay in control of what gets saved.

  • New Scan with AI - build an item from a photo
  • New AI fills in name, brand, model, category, your custom fields, and a matching template
  • New Free to try with 2 scans; Pro Local gets 40 a month, Pro Cloud 200
  • New Private by design - your photo is only sent when you choose to scan, and is never used to train AI

Smoother Scanning

A polish release for the scan screen. You now feel a quick tap the moment a scan lands, so you know it worked without watching the screen, with an optional scan sound if you want one. A new toggle flips between QR and barcode without leaving the screen, and we fixed a scanner that sometimes did not restart after you opened an item and came back.

  • New Haptic tap the moment a scan is recognised
  • New Optional scan sound
  • New Quick toggle between QR and barcode on the scan screen
  • Fixed Scanner sometimes did not restart after opening an item and coming back
  • Improved More of the app translated into your language

Sync & Location Picker Fixes

A reliability release. We tracked down a sync loop that could keep the app syncing when nothing had actually changed, tidied up how deleted and moved items are handled across devices, and reworked the location picker so it is searchable and no longer jumps around while a sync is running.

  • Fixed A sync loop that could keep syncing when nothing had changed
  • Fixed Location picker no longer jumps while a sync is running
  • Improved Searchable location picker, used everywhere you pick a location
  • Improved More reliable sync when items are deleted or moved across devices

Barcodes, Tap to Open & Camera-Ready QR Codes

The physical tagging release. Barcodes join NFC and QR as first-class citizens: scan a product's own barcode, reuse labels from a previous system like Sortly, or generate and print fresh ones. NFC tags learned a new trick too - turn on Tap to Open and tapping the tag opens the item even when the app is closed. And QR codes you generate now open items straight from the iPhone Camera.

  • New Barcode tracking - link product barcodes or existing labels to items and locations
  • New Generate barcodes - real EAN-13s in the internal-use range, unique to your inventory
  • New Tap to Open - write a link to an NFC tag so tapping it opens the item, even from the lock screen
  • New QR codes you generate open items directly from the iPhone Camera app
  • New Print barcode labels - QR and barcode labels mix on one Avery sheet
  • New Barcode custom fields are scannable - fill with the camera, found by Quick Scan
  • Improved Quick Scan reads QR codes and barcodes on one screen
  • Improved Register NFC Tag screen redesigned, with Tap to Open offered during registration

Custom Field Groups

Custom fields just got tidier. Organise them into named groups - Camera Specs, Tool Info, Warranty Details - and collapse the ones you're not using. Or pin them inside the built-in sections so warranty expiry sits next to purchase date, where it belongs. Each inventory has its own section visibility too - hide Quantity in your home contents, hide Purchase Info in a workshop.

  • New Custom field groups - organise custom fields into named collapsible sections
  • New Pin custom fields inside the standard sections, not just at the bottom
  • New Hide sections you don't use, per inventory - syncs across devices
  • Improved Item details page polish - full-width hero photo, adaptive nav bar
  • Improved Shared inventories load reliably on first sync
  • Improved Localisation fixes - around 100 strings that were stuck in English now translate properly
  • Fixed No more pointless sync round-trips when nothing has actually changed

Item Templates

Create templates that pre-fill fields when you add a new item. Build a "Camera" template and it sets the category, shows the fields you need (serial number, model, manufacturer), and hides the ones you don't. Pick a template when adding an item and the form is ready to go.

  • New Item templates - define which fields appear when adding items of a known type
  • New Save any existing item as a template with one tap
  • New Templates available in Pro Local and Pro Cloud
  • New Web app: sign in with Google
  • New Web app: subscribe online - monthly or annual Pro Cloud
  • New Web app: photo upload and cover photo support
  • Improved Sync reliability improvements
